Matt became a Christian when he was 21 years old, whilst working in the hospitality industry.
The Lord has developed in Matt a burden for people and their need to be walking in close fellowship with God. Sensing the Lord’s call into ministry early in his christian life, he undertook discipleship studies, training and serving in his local church - Golden City Baptist Church, Bendigo.
Furthering his studies, he attended Clarence Valley Independent Baptist Bible College by correspondence and obtained a Diploma of Biblical Studies and Theology in 2009.
Ordained by his local church in 2015, he followed the Lord’s call to the pastoral ministry at Springwood Baptist Church.
Matt has been married to his wife Dana-Vera since 2004, who has faithfully and lovingly supported him all the way. They have been blessed with 3 children; Chelsea, Samuel and Eadlin.

Derek became a Christian as a teenager, partly because of the influence of his godly Christian mother. During his life there have been many difficult times, but his faith in God has been a constant source of strength and encouragement to him – the proven promises of God’s Word that He will always be with us if we chose to walk with Him.
As he looks back now over many years the thing that saddens him the most is that many people, especially the younger ones, have very little knowledge of God or the Bible and hence have no foundation for their lives. He has found that true happiness and fulfilment only come as we follow God’s Word and allow Him to walk with us and guide us along life’s way.
